Foopanel

Notice: Foopanel development stopped quite a while ago.

However M. Kero has taken the work done for Foopanel and has been bringing it further in a new project called BarPanel. So be sure to check it out, as the core is the original Foopanel but much improved and way more functional.

Foopanel is a powerful desktop panel that enables you to have all that you want just one-click-far. It is extensible through Plugins and fully themeable.

Foopanel differs from the XFCE‘s panel (and also by the GNOME panel) because:

  1. it is written in Python, a great and powerful interpreted language that make it very easy to write plugins: these do not need any particular compilation or installation, they are plain text files that must be placed in the right directory. Nothing more to do.
  2. its appearence can easily be customized, by using a theme of those available or by writing a custom one.

Latest version

Latest version available is 0.1.0, released on 2006-3-16: go straight downloading it or check the latest news to be up-to-date.

Where to start

If you want to know more about Foopanel features, you should visit the Plugins section, because every Foopanel feature is a plugin: there you can learn which plugins are available and the features of each plugin.

Otherwise, if you’re willing to have it soon, you can go straight at the Download page.
